The Best Shoei Helmets for Avid Motorcycle Enthusiasts.
About Shoei Helmets
Shoei is a Japanese premium helmet maker, founded in 1959, known for hand-built helmets produced in Japan with industry-leading safety, fit, and aerodynamics — widely considered among the best motorcycle helmets in the world.
Every Shoei motorcycle helmet is hand-assembled and individually inspected in Japan, and developed in Shoei's own wind tunnel. That obsession with quality is why Shoei is the choice of MotoGP champions and discerning street, sport, touring, and adventure riders alike.
We've been fitting Shoei helmets for years, and we install Bluetooth communication systems in-house — so you can order a Shoei full face helmet or Shoei modular helmet with a Sena headset already installed and tested before it ships.
What Makes Shoei Different
- Hand-built in Japan — assembled and quality-checked by hand, not mass-produced.
- Multiple shell sizes — Shoei builds several shell sizes per model, so your helmet is proportioned to your head instead of using one shell with thicker padding. This is a major reason Shoei helmets fit and look better than cheaper helmets.
- AIM and AIM+ shell construction — layered fiberglass and organic fiber composite shells that are strong and light.
- Wind-tunnel aerodynamics — quieter, more stable helmets refined in Shoei's in-house wind tunnel.
- Premium safety — Shoei street models meet DOT, and many carry Snell M2020 or ECE 22.06 certification.
- EQRS emergency release — Emergency Quick Release System lets first responders remove cheek pads to extract the helmet safely.
- Fully replaceable interiors — every liner and cheek pad is removable, washable, and replaceable, so you can fine-tune fit and refresh the helmet over time.
The Shoei Lineup: Which Shoei Helmet Is Right For You?

Shoei Full Face Helmets
The X-15 is Shoei's flagship racing helmet — the one you'll see on the MotoGP grid. The RF-1400 is the sport-touring workhorse: lighter and quieter than the helmet it replaced, and one of the best all-around street helmets you can buy. Browse all full face helmets.
Shoei Modular Helmets
The Neotec 3 is Shoei's premium flip-up modular — quiet, well-sealed, with an integrated sun visor and designed around the Sena SRL3 communication system for a clean, factory-look Bluetooth install. Ideal for touring riders and anyone who wears glasses. Browse all modular helmets.
Shoei Open Face Helmets
The J-Cruise 3 brings touring comfort and a drop-down sun visor to an open-face design. The RJ Platinum-R is the classic 3/4 helmet, long favored by law enforcement. Browse all open face helmets.
Shoei Fit & Sizing
Shoei helmets run true to size with an intermediate-oval head shape — slightly longer front-to-back than side-to-side, which fits the majority of riders.
Because Shoei builds multiple shell sizes per model, a correctly sized Shoei feels snug and even all the way around, with no pressure points. A new helmet should feel firm — the liner breaks in roughly 15–20% over the first several rides.
How to measure: wrap a soft tape around the largest part of your head, about an inch above your eyebrows, and compare that measurement to the chart. If you're between sizes, size down before you size up — a helmet that's too loose won't protect you properly.
If your head is longer and narrower, look at long oval helmets. If it's rounder, see round oval helmets.
Shoei Shields, Visors & Replacement Parts
Every Shoei helmet uses a model-specific shield. The CWR-F2 fits the RF-1400 and X-15; the CNS-3 fits the Neotec 3. Most Shoei shields are Pinlock-ready for anti-fog inserts.
We stock the full range of Shoei replacement parts so you can keep your helmet fresh instead of replacing it:
- Shoei shields and visors — clear, tinted, mirrored, photochromic, and Pinlock-ready
- Pinlock EVO anti-fog inserts
- Shoei cheek pads and center pads — sized so you can fine-tune the fit of a helmet that's slightly loose or tight
- Shoei comfort liners and interior kits
- Shoei QSV internal sun shields
- Base plate kits, breath guards, chin curtains, and lower air spoilers
Fitment tip: cheek pads come in different thicknesses. If a Shoei is right in shell size but a touch loose in the cheeks, a thicker cheek pad set is far cheaper than a new helmet — and it's the single most common fix we recommend.
Shoei Bluetooth & Communication Systems
Shoei helmets are designed around the Sena SRL series — the SRL3 for the Neotec 3, and SRL-EXT for the RF-1400 and X-15 — which mount internally for a clean, factory-look install with no external pods.
This is where we're different from most online retailers: we install Bluetooth systems in-house before we ship. You can order a Shoei helmet with a Sena or Cardo system already fitted, wired, and tested. No fighting with speaker pockets on your kitchen table.
- Sena SRL3 — purpose-built for the Neotec 3
- Sena SRL-EXT — for the RF-1400 and X-15
- Sena SRL-Mesh — for J-Cruise and Neotec models
- Universal Sena and Cardo systems for any Shoei

Shoei vs. Other Premium Helmet Brands
Shoei and Arai are the two Japanese premium benchmarks. Shoei tends toward intermediate-oval fit and wind-tunnel-optimized aerodynamics; Arai leans rounder in shape with a hand-laid shell philosophy. Both are excellent — the right one is the one that fits your head.
Compare against Arai helmets, or step down in price to HJC, Bell, or Scorpion. If you're weighing Shoei against a mid-tier brand, the honest answer is that Shoei buys you fit precision, quietness, and finish — not necessarily more crash protection, since every DOT helmet meets the same federal standard.
Shoei Helmet FAQs
Are Shoei helmets worth the money?
Shoei helmets are premium, and you pay for hand-built Japanese construction, multiple shell sizes for a precise fit, wind-tunnel aerodynamics, and top-tier finish. If you ride often, the comfort and reduced wind noise over a long day are what riders tell us justify the price. If you ride occasionally, a mid-tier helmet may serve you fine.
Where are Shoei helmets made?
Every Shoei helmet is hand-built and individually inspected in Japan. Shoei has never outsourced production.
What head shape do Shoei helmets fit?
Most Shoei helmets fit an intermediate-oval head shape, which suits the majority of riders, and they run true to size. If you have a long, narrow head or a distinctly round head, call us before ordering.
Are Shoei helmets DOT or Snell certified?
All Shoei street helmets meet DOT. Many sport and racing models, including the X-15 and RF-1400, also carry Snell M2020 certification. Some models carry ECE 22.06.
How long do Shoei helmets last?
Shoei, like most manufacturers, recommends replacing a helmet about five years from first use, or seven years from the date of manufacture. Replace it immediately after any impact, even if it looks fine — the EPS liner crushes once and does not recover.
Are Shoei helmets quiet?
Shoei helmets are among the quieter premium helmets, thanks to wind-tunnel development and good sealing. The Neotec 3 and GT-Air 3 are the quietest in the lineup. No helmet is truly silent at highway speed — earplugs are still a good idea.
Which Shoei helmet is best for touring?
The Neotec 3 modular and GT-Air 3 full face are the touring favorites — both have integrated sun visors, good sealing, and clean Sena integration. For open-face touring, the J-Cruise 3.
How do I know what size Shoei to order?
Measure the largest part of your head about an inch above your eyebrows and compare to our sizing charts. Between sizes? Size down. New helmets break in about 15–20%, so snug out of the box is correct.
Can I put Bluetooth in a Shoei helmet?
Yes. Shoei designs its helmets around the Sena SRL series, which mounts internally for a clean install. We install Bluetooth systems in-house and can ship your helmet ready to ride.
What shield fits my Shoei?
Shields are model-specific. The CWR-F2 fits the RF-1400 and X-15; the CNS-3 fits the Neotec 3. Browse our Shoei shields and parts, or call us with your model and we'll confirm the right one.
Do you sell genuine Shoei helmets?
Yes — every Shoei helmet we sell is genuine, brand-new, and comes with full manufacturer warranty. We do not sell closeouts, seconds, or gray-market stock.
